They are going to capture all 493 Pokemon in 72 hours (3 days) in hopes of raising $15,000 USD for Ally’s House.

Ally Faith Webb was an almost 3-year-old girl that just before her 2nd birthday developed a knot in the side of her stomach. This knot, come to find out, was a Wilm’s tumor that was effecting both of her kidneys and they had to be removed.

A month prior to her 3rd birthday the cancer had gotten the better of Allison and she died on August 6th, 2003.

TheSpeedGamers are a Dallas-Forth Worth based group that in the past month have ran through games such as Mario, Metroid, Halo and Resident Evil and have raised over $90,000 in the process. They have also attempted to get Earthbound brough to the States, as well as done some marathons just for fun.

TheSpeedGamers are going to power through 8 of the Pokemon Games (Fire Red, Leaf Green, Heart Gold, Soul Silver, Ruby, Sapphire, Diamond and Pearl) with only the event attainable Pokemon as a head-start. No other outside trades will be allowed

They have already begun accepting donations in form of debit, credit and paypal on their website and have already raised $150 before the events have begun.

As incentive, once they reach $5,000, TheSpeedGamers will release a trailer that will announce their 2010 marathon schedule.

Ally’s full story can be found on [Ally's House.net]

TheSpeedGamers, along with information about their Pokemon marathon (and past marathons) can be found on [TheSpeedGamers.com]

Volkswagen has started up a site with some very interesting theories. Fun theories, if I may. Would the world change for the better if everyday activities weren’t so dull? Would people be willing to change their unhealthy habits if it brought a smile to their face? Could you fix the planet with rainbows and butterfly farts?

Answer? Of course! (Maybe not the “butterfly fart” part though.)

Their set of “Fun Theory” videos take average, everyday tasks and alters them so people are more willing to do something they normally don’t do and have fun doing it, all while bettering themselves and the world around them. Good job, VW.

They also have a contest going on right now with a grand prize of €2,500 (approx. $3,711.93) to the person who submits the best Fun Theory video. Judging ends on November 15th, so start building your cars that run on common courtesy.

Its a great combination between a digital camera and the old favorite, Polaroid.

From the firebox website:

Combining the instant fun of an old school Polaroid camera with the groundbreaking technology of the smash hit PoGo Printer, this 5.0 mega pixel snapper does exactly what it says on the tin; takes a picture then ejects a print on a 2”x3” slice of sticky-back photo paper.

The whole process takes about forty seconds and, unlike the Polaroid cameras of yesteryear, you can dispense with duds by checking your efforts via the 3” LCD screen. You can also crop pics before printing, add borders, remove red-eye and print dates.

Throw in an electronic timer, movie mode with sound, rechargeable battery (15 prints per full charge) and 4x digital zoom and you’re looking at a camera that’s guaranteed to elicit oohs and aahs every time you pull it out. And let’s be honest, taking Polaroids has always been about other people’s reactions, good or otherwise: “If you don’t rip that up right now…”

Would you buy one?

Western Digital is all set to introduce its 2 TB HDD. Can you imagine a 2 TD HDD? I remember a time when I used to think a 2 GB HDD was a lot. With the new HD Video cameras and high quality sound files, I am sure we would have no problem filling up this bad boy really quick!

Here is some info from the Western Digital website:

Reduced power consumption - WD has reduced power consumption by up to 40 percent compared to standard desktop drives with the combination of WD’s IntelliSeek™, NoTouch™, and IntelliPower™ technologies.

Helps enable eco-friendly PCs - WD Caviar Green drives yield an average drive power savings of 4-5 watts over standard desktop drives making it possible for our energy-conscious customers to build systems with higher capacities and the right balance of system performance, ensured reliability, and energy conservation.

Cool and quiet - GreenPower™ technology yields lower operating temperatures for increased reliability and low acoustics for ultra-quiet PCs and external drives.

Massive capacity - Capacities up to 2 TB offer the most available capacity for storage-intensive programs and space-hungry operating systems, like Window Vista®, with plenty of room left over for photos, music, and video.

Perfect for external drives - External drive manufacturers can eliminate the need for a fan in a high-capacity product with a WD Caviar Green drive, the coolest and quietest in its class.

IntelliPower - A fine-tuned balance of spin speed, transfer rate and caching algorithms designed to deliver both significant power savings and solid performance.

IntelliSeek - Calculates optimum seek speeds to lower power consumption, noise, and vibration. View demo >
NoTouch ramp load technology - The recording head never touches the disk media ensuring significantly less wear to the recording head and media as well as better drive protection in transit.

Perpendicular Magnetic Recording (PMR) - Employs PMR technology to achieve even greater areal density.
StableTrac™ - The motor shaft is secured at both ends to reduce system-induced vibration and stabilize platters for accurate tracking, during read and write operations. (2 TB models only)

Low power spin-up - WD Caviar Green drives consume less current during startup allowing lower peak loads.
Advanced power technology - Electronic components deliver best-in-class low power consumption for reduced power requirements and increased reliability.
