A computer programmer from Finland crashed his motorcyle last year and was forced to have his finger amputated. After his doctor found out that he was a software programmer he cracked a joke about how it would be funny for him to have a USB Finger. One thing leads to another and well, Jerry Javala now has a 2GB finger drive.

The skin around his “fingernail” can be peeled back to expose the drive that he uses to store pictures, data, etc. on. One thing that is in my mind, what data do you put on your finger?

He’s already thinking about upgrading to a bigger size and possibly adding in wireless technology and mentioned, “I’m planning to use another prosthetic as a shell for the next version, which will have removable fingertip and RFID tag“.

So, first we have a robotic eye, now a USB finger? The days of cyborgs are upon us! We must keep them at bay or they will rise up and end human existance as we know it! :)

More info can be found at [Javala's blog]; more pictures of the finger drive in action can be found on [Javala's Flickr Page]

soundwaveA really neat idea. Pretty much, you record a quick phrase or message to someone, customize what color beads and band you want and they turn the sound wave portion of it into a bracelet.
