This question has been bothering the crap out of me, so I’ve decided to make a Pros/Cons list for the new DSi that is releasing in a few weeks.
DSi
Pros
- Smaller system – 2.6mm thick
- Bigger Screen – 3.25 inches
- Improved Speakers – Meh, normally I have my speakers off anyways.
- Web Browser – Runs faster than DSLite Hardware Browser
- Music Player – Supports .aac files
- “Virtual Console” support
- Two (2) Cameras – 0.3 megapixel VGA cameras. One on the inside, one on the outside.
- Five Brightness Settings – DS Lite has four
- 16mb of RAM
Cons
- Loss of Gameboy Advance Slot
- Shorter Battery Life – 9-14 hours in comparison to DSLite’s 15-19 hours.
- Price – $179.99
- Loss of compatibility for items that require GBA slot – Guitar Hero, Rumblepack, etc.
- Slightly Longer
Not too bad for cons, although that price is killing me. Do I really need to spend $180 for a lot of gimmicky stuff that I already have with my other gadgets? I guess I don’t see what the 2 million people in Japan see.
